Eleganter Louis-XVI-Stil Spieltisch, sog. „Table Tric Trac“

A 19th century tric trac game table, the rectangular top removable, inlaid on one side with a chess board, on the other with a simple banding around a vivid walnut veneer - ideal for a card game. Removing the top reveals a tric trac board, tric trac being a French variant of Backgammon, with two long compartments for holding chess pieces, dice and counters. Gaming was a favorite pastime in 18th and 19th century France, starting in the 18th century with multipurpose writing and card tables of various designs. The rectangular table with with an amaranth and kingwood marquetry on square tapering legs with gilt-bronze sabots, the whole paneled with fruitwood stringing and a chequer-board pattern. In excellent condition.
