Eleganter Marmorbrunnen, Frankreich, spätes 18. Jh.


Late 18th century marble fountain carved in Carrara marble and originally the center piece of a larger basin. A circular flat top with a central vine ornament adorns the waterspout. The water would pour over the rim softening the edges of this hard material over time and creating a beautiful patina. The central column of baluster shape on a square plinth and lion paws. Some losses to the foliage encompassing the column.
