Empire Kaminuhr, Frankreich, um 1820


A fine French Empire mantle clock with a rectangular drum case surmounted by a classical urn, a treasure chest and a butterfly, flanked by a standing and winged figure of Psyche holding a Roman oil lamp and a dagger and by a column with a flamed top. The rectangular stepped plinth decorated with foliage, butterflies, laurel wreaths and vessels burning incense. The white enamel with Roman numerals and blued-steel Breguet hands is signed 'Rossel a Rouen'. The movement has a silk suspension and a knob for adjusting the speed.
