Exzellente Louis-XV-Stil-Kommode à Tombeau, Frankreich, 19. Jh.
A Louis XV style marquetry commode or chest of drawers of tomb-shaped form, the serpentine top echoed by the serpentine front apron, with two large drawers below two half-width drawers. The chest of drawers is veneered with kingwood and amaranth, the gilt bronze mounts cast with foliate and rocailles, the handles even displaying a pagoda -shaped form. The Rococo escutcheons with a fitting key, a playfully designed apron mount and beautifully intricately pierced Rococo cast mounts to the angles - correlating with the geometrical design of the marquetry. The top is of grey and white marble - creating a contrast in colour to the warm naturally accumulated patina of the wooden corpus and the gilt bronze mounts.
