Exzellentes und großes Paar Bronzeleuchter, Thomas Abbott/Birmingham, ca. 1850

A pair of 19th century English gilt bronze cut-crystal candelabra each stamped 'Abbott' on the underside of the base. Thomas Abbott was a bronzier and lampmaker from Birmingham, active between 1830 and 1860. His workshop is known for its quality casts and revival styles. A towering and statuesque pair of finely chased gilt bronze seven-light candelabra. The candelabra rest on a triform base each side with a central cartouche and foliate moulding, three feet. The tapering stem holds the candelabra arms which are in the form of scrolling flower stems. Candle sockets with removable nozzles and bobeches hang with facetted drops and prism. These magnificent candelabra would grace any home or occasion.
