A rare and exceptional large 19th century French gilt-bronze chandelier with a central solid cut-crystal finial surrounded by an open gilt-bronze cage frame with three tiers of scrolled and fluted branches issuing altogether 20 lights, each with gilt-bronze drip-pan and foliate shaped gilt-bronze nozzle. The acanthus cast corona hang with facet-cut pendents and prism. The elaborate gilt-bronze frame exhibits gilt-bronze cast drapery elements between the branches within the middle tier. The exquisite open work frame is of charming intricate design and finely cast and chased quality, bearing all wires inside. The chandelier is adorned all over with various large facet-cut and flat scalloped pendalogue drop prisms of beautiful quality terminating in a gilt-bronze pine cone. Wired for electricity.
