A fine handcoloured etching of the New Market and Church of our Lady (Marienkirche) of Berlin by Johann Georg Rosenberg (1739-1808) in a card mount, framed and glazed. Johann Georg Rosenberg was a German painter, etcher and engraver. He was educated in Holland and France and was a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. After 1773 he lived constantly in Berlin until his death in 1808 and published numerous etchings at the Berlin publisher's house Jean Morino & Co. showing very detailed views of the city of Berlin of his time. Rosenberg was well known for his townscapes of Berlin, he distinguished himself from other Berlin artists by his fine colouring.
