Louis-XVI-Bèrgère mit Ottomane, Frankreich, spätes 19. Jh.

A fine 19th century paintwood armchair with ottoman, with an arched padded back, armrests and loose cushion seats, the frame carved with stylised lotus leaves, on fluted tapering legs. Painted in white/cream with an tuquois outline. Newly upholstered in Marc Alexander fabric (silverbirch M200/22). Made in in the manner and style of Jean-Baptiste III Lelarge. Lelarge's designs are characterised by its generous in size and intricate carved patterns. Lelarge was born in 1743 in Paris and became a maitre-menuisier in 1775. He worked for the crown at Fontainebleau and continued during the revolutionary and Directoire periods and died in 1802. Works bearing his stamp are to be found in the Louvre, the Petit Trianon, the Metropolitan Museum and the Wallace Collection. Another set of bergere and ottomane available. Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. /Excellent. Newly consolidated and upholstered in the French tradition with new springs and webbing and tread strong string through the webbing. Covered with high quality Marc Alexander linen (M200/22, Vintage Silverbirch) with added double welt cord. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses, minor fading
