Paar feine Empire-Kerzenleuchter mit Weinrankendekor, Frankreich, ca. 1815
Pair of Empire ormolu candlesticks with beaded and finely chased drip pans, nozzles with vine leaves, grapes and tendrils on a fluted shaft resting on a circular base with a doomed foot. The base again finely chased with vine decoration. The decor is very intricately executed and the sculpting is of very high quality. The vine ornament an attribute of Bacchus who discovered the vine during his wanderings about the earth and taught men its use.
